Contribution a l'étude de l'utilisation des foggaras dans la région de Zaouiet Kounta (w. Adrar)

Abstract

We examine in this study, one of the ancient techniques of irrigation in arid regions. This is the foggaras system that was used in the oases of Zaouiet Kounta in the wilaya of Adrar. On the basis of investigations and missions during the months of January, March and April 2016, it follows that the introduction of new irrigation techniques has caused the drying up of several foggaras. Thus the number of foggaras service which was 160 in 1960, today there are only 37 foggaras. In addition to the classic foggaras, oases of Zaoouit Kunta were irrigated by small foggaras called Garden foggaras which are intended to collect the drainage water.
