Abstract: In semi-arid areas, surface water resources are quantitatively limited and concentrated during the rainy season. The storage of excess rainwater in this season can cover the different needs during the other months of the year. Generally, rainfall generates shallow flows and a dam acts as a flow regulator for better management of water resources. In the last years, the water sector in Algeria has been enriched by several constructions and projects that have a great importance. This study is a part of the program of conservation of surface water in Algeria specifically in Algiers and through our graduation project, we will conduct a study on the design of a dam located on Oued Bouchebouk inside DOUNIA park. In addition to the major tourism issue involved in this project itself, the water provided will be used to irrigate neighboring lands to make recreational areas.
