Abstract: The Chiffa pumping chain is one of the two main chains that pump towards the Merdjechkir reservoir (4×2500 m³), which supplies water to the Medea municipality. The objective of this project is to rehabilitate the three pumping stations (SP1, SP2, and SP3) that constitute this chain in order to enhance their production efficiency and meet the water demand. To achieve this goal, we presented the study area, estimated the requirements, and determined that the flow pumped by the three stations should be 15000m³/day. Then, we conducted a diagnosis of the current state of the three stations, which allowed us to identify various issues existing within these stations (we decided to keep the same electro pump groups and opt for a control by valves adaptation for all three stations). Next, we discussed methods and approaches for rehabilitation to address all observed deteriorations, including a proposal for renovating the supply with ductile iron pipes of DN400mm (PN40). Afterward, we estimated the costs associated with these works. Finally, we discussed the protection and safety of work within the pumping stations.
