The aquifer of Mitidja represents a large exploitable water reserves, given the development of the different sectors and the influence of climate change which is explained by a drought period of thirty consecutive years, it had a significant drop in groundwater levels and intrusion of marine waters making it unusable. In order to increase and maintain these water reserves, raising the water level in wells and boreholes, reduce losses of the Mitidja aquifer to the sea and contribute to sustainable development that ensures the availability of water resources, we use the artificial groundwater recharge which is based on a qualitative and quantitative monitoring of the oued El Harrach water in its upstream part at Hammam Melouane station. The qualitative monitoring includes the various physico-chemical analyzes of water (pH, Ce, Ca, K, Mg) that are necessary to have the degree of pollution of groundwater and the possibility of being used as a natural source for artificial groundwater recharge. In the quantitative monitoring, the estimation of the base-flow index is carried out, which allows quantifying the low flow and saying if this amount is sufficient to increase the volume of water stored.en_US
