The aim of this work is to study groundwater flow in sandy solid (porous). The research is divided into two parts, experimental and numerical. In the experimental part, attempts have been made in the laboratory of soil mechanics for example the soil identification tests (particle size analysis, void ratio and the density of the solid grains ....) for characterizing and collecting the necessary data. In the laboratory of hydraulics, three (3) experiments are developed in a tank filled with sand; it is called the infiltration vessel that will describe groundwater flow in free surface. The first experiment is to study the horizontal flow, the second for describing the rapid emptying and the third experiment is performed with charging. In the digital part, a numerical finite element model was performed on calculate code “ENsat” describe the three previous experiments to calculate the leakage flow and hydraulic gradient and determine the free surface (saturation line) and valid it per the comparison with experimental results.en_US
