Algeria's northwest experienced devastating floods in recent decades due to shortlived, high-intensity showers.Relevant to this study presents a contribution to the development of a working and planning methodology for risk prediction through the use of climate modeling. Our main objective is the modeling of rainfall intensity for the northwestern region of Algeria in order to study the trend of extreme values In this work the quintiles were calculated from the data of the maximum intensities for different durations. The adjustment of the maximum intensity series to calculate the quintiles for the return periods (2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 years) and for different durations (5, 10, 15,20,30,45, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 360 minutes) was made with the HYFRAN-Plus software, The results of the frequency analysis show that the series of maximum intensities adjust well the law GEV. The interpretation of the results allowed locating the areas vulnerable to the risk of flooding in the study area.en_US
