Water erosion of soils is one of the serious environmental problems in Northern Algeria. This phenomenon affects large land portion in the north of the country. The available cartographic data are very old and no longer allow to view the phenomenon in its entirety and to act in a timely manner. This work focuses on the development of a digital database, based on a Geographic Information System (GIS), on the multifactorial vulnerability to water erosion of the Beni Amrane dam watershed (North-Central of Algeria). This is achieved through the collection of different layers (soil type, slope, precipitation and land use) in order to prioritize the different zones of the watershed, producing a synthetic map showing the distribution of degrees of erosion sensitivity. This first cartographic draft is a tool to assist decision-makers in better management of water and soil resources and to protect the Beni Amrane dam from siltation .en_US
