Flood frequency analyzes can be performed by using two types of flood flow series: the annual maximums (AM) and the peak over threshold (POT). This work illustrates a comparison between the results of the two methods applied on Algeria northern stations data. Six commonly used distribution functions and three parameter estimation techniques are taken into account in the first type. The goal of our work is to choose the best technique sample to refine the estimation of the quantiles of the maximum flows required for sizing hydraulic structures and facilities.en_US
