dc.description.abstractMost of Algeria's arid and semi-arid watersheds lack the sustainable management of natural resources. The objective of this study is a regionalization of the homogeneous subbasins from a morphometric analysis of the Cheliff basin (43750 km 2 ) which is situated in the North-West of Algeria. The watershed has been characterized using geoprocessing techniques in GIS mainly, the Integrated Land and Water Information System (ILWIS). The morphometric analysis of the basin makes it possible to explore the interrelation between the hydraulic parameters and the geomorphological characteristics and the explanatory statistical variables which serve as a support for a classification of the catchment area in homogeneous zones. This study can be applied for soil and water management as well as for disaster prevention from similar watersheds.en_US
