Abstract: The design of sewerage networks is based on the assumptions of uniformity and steadiness. In addition, the calculation of pipe dimensions is done section by section without giving any importance to the upstream flow and its hydraulic and geometric characteristics. In this thesis, the influence of this upstream flow on pipes design and water depths is evaluated through adopting a dynamic wave routing function using the EPA-SWMM 5.1 software. Relevant to this, the assessment of steadiness and uniformity hypotheses is verified in rainy weather by considering the project flows (maximum peak). Thus, a comparative analysis of the main hydraulic characteristics (water depth, speed, etc.) obtained by considering two different hypotheses (uniformity / steadiness and dynamic wave routing) allow us to verify the reliability of the uniform permanent flow, in the design of the sewer network of El-Flay (Béjaia), particularly in sections with steep slopes followed by moderate slopes. Eventually, this procedure, based on simulation, also makes it possible to assess the impact of these assumptions of steadiness and uniformity in terms of transport capacity (failure or not) of the network and / or its design.
