dc.description.abstract | The water hammer phenomenon is considered to be a danger causing damage to pipes carrying water. It results from the transient regime that occurs due to a discontinuity in the flow. The value of the water hammer varies according to the condition and dimensions of the pipes. Our goal in this thesis is to explain the transient flow, to study the influence of the ground on the value of the water hammer, and to know the forces applied by the ground on the buried pipes. Moreover, we will be interested in the law of maneuver of the regulating bodies since it is one of the parameters which influence the water hammer. | en_US |
