The sizing of sewerage networks often requires the use of land cover and land use maps, which is not always available, remote sensing images, can be another alternative. And indeed, remote sensing allows direct and rapid access to the earth's surface and also provides a great deal of information on the spatial and temporal evolution of land use, which allows good management of sanitation networks. In this work, we first made the state of the art of methods for processing remote sensing data and bibliographic synthesis on remote sensing and satellite images. Then we introduce remote sensing, its basic principle and acquisition system. We have also given examples of the application of remote sensing. Finally, we gave an overview of the expected future of satellite remote sensing.en_US
