Abstract

The spillway is an essential organ integrated into a sewerage network, through which water flows during ordinary periods or during periods of flooding. The weir is often placed across a natural or artificial watercourse (river, small watercourses, etc.) as a mean of controllig the flow and depth of the water. It is also used to channel the waters of exceptional floods under conditions favorable to safety. These structures are classified into several categories based on the shape, position, height and alignment of the weir. This study constitutes a contribution to the theoretical comparison between the different types of weirs, which allowed us to propose the suitable and most efficient type of weir for the sewerage network of the city of Telagh.
