Soil erosion and its consequences are one of the major current environmental issues. The major adverse effects of this phenomenon are soil loss and direct damage to agricultural lands, flooding of urbanized areas and even pollution of drinking water catchment areas. In this work, we first presented the phenomenon, its types and factors. Then, the different consequences of erosion and some figures of the recorded losses caused by this phenomenon. Finally, we introduced the main methods for measuring erosion with some examples of application in some watershed and some methods of erosion control.en_US
