Abstract: | Rainwater harvesting is the process of capturing, channeling, and storing storm water runoff for later use. Rainwater harvesting systems can be easily implemented at home, commercial, and community level. Uses of harvested rainwater include many sectors. Therefore, if used for drinking water, the water must be treated in accordance with state and federal drinking water regulations. Treatment methods include, but are not limited to, debris filtration and various purification methods. This study explains how to collect, store and purify rainwater for direct use at household level. It is a practical guide to creating a rainwater harvesting infrastructure from design to implementation. In the end of this memoir, we will take the National High School for Hydraulics as a practical example to study; we will design a Water Harvesting system to be planted in school. |
