The changes of the steady flow of fluid in a pipe, often lead to sudden variations in pressure and give what is called the transient flows in closed conduit. So the study of the phenomenon of transient flows in charge is to determine whether the pressure in the entire system is within the prescribed due to a disruption of the flow limits. Defining the extent of a study of water hammer, it will include consideration of changes in speed or flow and pressure resulting from improper operation of the system, its normal operation and emergency operations. Our study presents a numerical modeling of the phenomenon of transient flows in pipes over complex geometries or variable sections. The method of characteristics is used to solve the equations of "Saint-Venant," which consist of a pair of equations: the equation of conservation of mass (continuity) and the equation of conservation of momentum (dynamic). Thanks to the industrial program AFT Impulse, we obtained very interesting and practical numerical results to describe the phenomenon of transient flows in ducts with variable sections .en_US
