Abstract: Water is by far the most abundant element on our planet and essential material for living. The study of precipitation processes in arid and semi-arid regions is no longer seen to demonstrate that water is the limiting factor of the first order. Thus, a good knowledge of the rainfall distribution in both time and space, is essential to identify the critical periods of drought which crops are exposed and the other favorable areas and areas unfavorable. To treat our theme, we divided the work into two parts. The first is devoted to a literature search on all the elements that make our work (origin of precipitation, rainfall distribution.....). In the second part, we studied the spatio-temporal analysis of rainfall in Algeria and discussed the main changes and phenomena related to rainfall (rainfall variability, calculation of concentration and rainfall aggressiveness ......). For this, is based on monthly data from many stations in the Algerian-Est.
