dc.description.abstractIn the work field, and after a bibliographic analysis, it was found that when stopping a group of pumps, this results in damage to the discharge pipe either just at the outlet of the pump or at the high points. The sizing of the anti-ram means may be the cause. In this search we will establish a program using the MATLAB which will help us in the calculation of the wave celerity by varying the types of soil and the height of the embankment then we try to make a calculation analysis of the blow of water hammer with different formulas that of the load of prestressing when the pipe is buried and the usual formula which does not take into account the effect of the ground, in order to see the influence of the ground on the wave celerity and therefore its impact on the anti-ram.en_US
