Abstract: A cut-off in the supply of drinking water can be a reality for many residents at the worst time of year, as their water pipes can freeze in winter when temperatures drop to subfrozen levels for long periods of time. This is one of the most dangerous and costly problems is frozen pipes. Through this thesis, we hope to have contributed to the study of the phenomenon of freezing of drinking water supply pipes, and the freezing of stagnant water in pressurized pipes. To do this, we have presented experimental studies and mathematical models of the formation of frost in water pipes. Finally, we have deferred the systems proposed by researchers and scientists to prevent freezing and bursting of water pipes.
