Abstract: The water distribution network is not only a tool for transporting water from the production plant to the consumer's tap, but also for maintaining the quality of the water therein. Water demands are increasing day by day and consumers are more and more demanding on the quality of water which has a direct impact on their health. This work consists in highlighting the standards of water potability, the main factors at the origin of the degradation of the bacteriological, physicochemical and organoleptic quality of water in the distribution network as well as the approaches and recommended measures to be applied to reduce or limit this phenomenon at the level of the distribution systems of potable water.
