Abstract: | The choice of the economical diameter is a very important step when sizing a drinking water supply. Several techniques have been implemented to determine the economical diameter for the case of a forced gravity flow or discharge. Choosing the right technique reduces the cost of the project from an economic point of view and obtains the best operation from a technical point of view. Presenting the techniques proposed by various researchers, from the last century to the present day, and criticizing them is the main objective of our work. It is also in this context that we have applied a number of technical approaches to cases of hydraulic projects for the supply of drinking water and hydroelectric development. This is in order to study the convergence of the results from different techniques, for calculating the economic diameter according to their destination of use and their limits of application. |
