The issue of natural hazards and specifically the risk of flooding is a topical issue in Algeria and around the world, particularly in view of the last so catastrophic floods. As such, managing this risk is becoming more of a necessity that must involve all stakeholders (decision makers, technicians and population) to identify the current issues as well as available and possible alternative ways to mitigate the human and material damage caused by this phenomenon. This work involves the protection of BIRTOUTA city (W.Algiers), against flooding. In this context, several axes have been studied: the detailed description of area to understand the generation of flow and transfer to the downstream, the analysis of maximum daily precipitation and determining the design flow rate, and draw up flood risk maps and management plans for these areas using the proposed variants. Finally, the most suitable variant from a technical and economic point of view is the mixed one by the concrete in the first part of wadi and gabionnage in the second part of wadi.en_US
