Abstract: The Oued-Souf region is a water resource unit located in south-eastern Algeria. It has a very large water reservoir made up of three underground water tables: the free water table (water table), the water table of the Terminal complex, the water table of the intermediate continental. Almost all of the water of which is intended to feed the population, as it is considered the only water resource available in this region. Despite this richness, the quality of these waters nevertheless remains from mediocre to bad with a high mineralization (the origin of which is essentially the geological nature of the surrounding land) and exceeds the standards recommended by the WHO. For this, rigorous criteria must be demanded to improve the quality of these waters and guarantee their potability in accordance with national and international standards, before they are mobilized to consumers. This alarming situation is at the origin of our study which consists of the construction of a demineralization station in this region. The main goal of our work is to establish a comparative study between the different demineralization techniques (technically and economically) and to propose a sizing of the station (demineralization station and physical pre-treatment).
