After desalination of seawater, factories generate brine containing various salts, heavy metals and organic compounds. This brine is two times saltier (between 50 and 80 g /l) than the standard sea water (35 g/l in the Mediterranean Sea).Currently, a brine discharge is diluted quickly in sea water and does not have serious environmental consequences. However, this rejection of brine in large quantities, may cause long-term imbalance in the chemical composition of sea water, with dramatic consequences for biodiversity, marine ecosystems whether fauna or flora sub marines. The increase in salinity can transform lifeless desert coasts, causing the disappearance of villages or local maritime activities. The aim of our work is to study and improve management desalination liquid waste (brine) to reduce the environmental impact of the desalination plant. Thus, initially, resources and desalination,in Algeria, its different processes In the second part, we focused in depth on the studied sample, which is the Fouka desalination plant, Tipasa, with its different aspects: location, demography, in addition to a detailed study of the desalination method. used in it (reverse osmosis) and its sizing, then the third part gives the components and the effects of this waste on the marine environment according to the physico-chemical analyzes of the samples of sea water and brine from the Fouka station, while the fourth part explains the different methods and techniques for the recovery, management and recycling of brine from the desalination of seawater with its application to our study station accompanied by illustrations of the use of these methods on a global scale.en_US
