dc.description.abstract | Urban sanitation is crucial for protecting public health and the environment by ensuring the collection, treatment, and disposal of wastewater and stormwater. The city of Béni Abbès, Algeria, is experiencing rapid growth, but its aging and undersized sanitation network leads to frequent overflows and flooding. An in-depth diagnosis of the network is essential to identify failing sections and plan necessary improvements. The rainfall analysis, using the double triangle design storm method, allows for proper sizing of stormwater management structures to minimize flood risks. The SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) was used to simulate the flows of stormwater and wastewater, providing accurate results for the design and optimization of the network. Proposed improvements include increasing pipe diameters, creating lift stations to manage elevation differences, and storm overflow structures to control excess flows, aiming to eliminate illegal discharges and ensure an effective and sustainable sanitation network for Béni Abbès. | en_US |
