Abstract: Our project aims to design an industrial wastewater treatment plant for the Algerian Tannery of Leather and Derivatives (ACED). This plant will be responsible for treating all the wastewater generated by the factory, totaling a volume of 600 m3 per day. The primary objective is to preserve the environment and public health, while also enabling the reuse of this valuable resource for production, vehicle cleaning, outdoor spaces, fire network supply, and irrigation of green areas. This study comprises two main aspects: The first aspect involves examining the characteristics of the industrial wastewater from the tannery. The results indicate that this water is heavily contaminated and exhibits hard biodegradability. The second aspect pertains to the design of the collective wastewater treatment plant, based on the analysis of the industrial wastewater directly discharged into EL Biar River.
