This study aims to secure the city of El Gor, located in western Algeria, against the flood risks posed by two rivers crossing the region. It includes a detailed analysis of the watersheds and an estimation of flood discharges using three different approaches. Using HEC-RAS and ArcGIS software, hydraulic simulations were conducted to map flood-prone areas and identify high-risk sectors. Following a comparative analysis of mitigation options, riprap protection was selected as the optimal solution due to its technical and economic feasibility. The simulations conducted suggest that this measure will ensure the safety of residents and urban infrastructure. Furthermore, this study could serve as a reference for other researchers and professionals interested in flood risk management, providing valuable data and relevant methodological approaches for studying extreme events.en_US
