Abstract: This work aims to examine different options for spillways to allow the passage of floods through the Tichy-Haf dam on the Oued Boussellam (Wilaya of Béjaia) while controlling the maximum levels reached by the dam to ensure the safety of property and people downstream. To achieve this, it is first necessary to define the geomorphological and climatic parameters of the watershed, followed by a hydrological study of the dam site and flood routing. This made it possible to determine the design flow and the width of the spillway. This width was found to be twice the available land area. To address this constraint, we studied four variants: frontal inlet side spillway, lateral inlet side spillway, labyrinth spillway, and tubular spillway. Finally, the techno-economic study of the four variants allowed us to choose the most economical variant. This step involved a thorough analysis of the construction costs and the hydraulic performance of each option. The selected variant was then subjected to a detailed civil engineering study to ensure its feasibility and compliance with safety and durability standards.
